Three Curious Rats

                                                           

Raton has always been curious from birth, therefore his desire to know what happens at the other side of the wall did not come as a surprise to him. Raton has always   heard stories about the other side of the wall; it was often said in those stories, across the wall lays   paradise, the land of plenty, some rats even said that it was inhabited by the dead. Despite rumours Raton still wanted to know why it was called the forbidden land. However, it was increasingly difficult to access the other side of the wall in the Kingdom of the Rats since the king passed a decree that forbid any Rat  from speaking or attempting to leave the wall. A Rat can be banished   or sentenced to death in accordance with  the decree if such Rat attempts to leave the Kingdom to the other side of the wall. The King has on several occasions assured his subjects   that  beyond the walls lays great danger.

Rafat has always loved food, he was given the nick name foody, Rafat  has never been satisfied  with the food in the Kingdom, he believed that  somewhere and someplace there exist better and more delicious food.    Rafat’s  mom has always told him that he would eat himself to death one day. He heard from an old friend that across the wall  lays varieties of food  couldn’t stop  himself  from visualizing about it every minute of the day.

Ratin was in the farm busy tilling the ground when he suddenly came across an old tunnel which he thinks was abandoned by the explorers after the great Rat war he was anxious to know what lays beyond the tunnel.  But he couldn’t carry out such investigation when his supervisors were around. After closing hours Ratin decides  to go through the tunnel, but he suddenly remembers his two friends, he felt it would be a   great idea to get them involved in this great adventure of discovery. So he rushed to their home to inform them of the good news he knew Raton would be interested but he couldn’t tell if Rafat would want to join in.

The three friends having decided to give it a try embarked on an expedition to the world across their wall. t first  everything seem to be the same, but suddenly they came across a  mountain of  assorted things food, papers, rags,  wastes and so on.  Raton been very curious wanted to know where such things  originated from, so they decided to wait to see what happens .

The Three Little Rats fell asleep while waiting to see what happens, however,  they were suddenly woken up to the heavy footsteps of a creature with a bucket full of rubbish. Rafat was excited because he knew he would have something new to eat.  The three little Rats were with what they saw, so  they  decided to follow the creature. The three little Rats discovered to their greatest surprise that  the  creature lived in a container bigger then theirs s with doors and windows.  Ratin  suggested that it would be better for them to explore the place late at night when they think the  creature would be asleep, Rafat and Raton agreed.

The three curious Rats found out that the container was sealed at night with nowhere in but Ratin due to his size, for he was known as a very thin Rat,  was able to squeeze himself  through a narrow hole inside the container. Ratin  found out that the container  was made up of so many rooms but the best place of all was the place that stored  all kinds of food. Ratin was so excited , he  couldn’t wait to tell Rafat and Raton about it but he had to find a way in which he could get them in.

Upon  Rafat’s entry he  quickly rushed to the store to help himself out with the food he eventually ended up testing all the food, while Raton was busy exploring the rest of the house Ratin was trying to eat human feet he read that the feet of the creature gives knowledge.

The creature was so furious in the morning he couldn’t believe his eyes he thought  Rats were  extinct because it has been a  long  time since he encountered such silly creatures called rats he decided to be careful and watchful.

Such activity continued for days  and stretched into weeks and even months no matter how hard hetried to protect his valuables, the rats somehow found a way to attack it .  He was  determined to put an end to it he decided to poison some portions of the food and place them in a strategic location, he even went to the extent of buying a cat and a rat trap just in case one of them fail the other would do the work.

Raton and Ratin noticed that something strange was happening in their paradise it has become their  tradition to always visit the container of paradise as they call it. But Rafat as usually strayed away and was already helping himself to the food that was readily available and easy to be gotten.Ratfat was  very excited when he finally discovered a heap of delicious food kept in a corrner he instantly helped himself to it after having a large junk of it he noticed that his legs became numb  he wanted to shout out but he couldn’t  this was how Ratfat met his death in the hands of the poison .

 Ratin and Raton where frightened to discover Ratfat stiff they knew that their friend was no more and that it would no longer be safe for them to remain in the container they decided to flee.  , In the process of fleeing Ratin  mistakenly ran  over the Rat  tarp and was caught in it  he couldn’t escape and he ended up bleeding to death. Raton was frightened now losing two of his best friends in one day. He  didn’t notice the cat sleeping in front of him and so in  his haste to flee he  ran over the cat   and was engaged in a hot  pursuit he tried his possible best to lose the cat but the cat was  angry faster and smarter. Ratin  was eventually killed by the cat. In the morning the creature saw the bodies of the three dead curious rats, he swept them away and threw them in the cabbage. The three Rats were never given a decent burial like their fellow Rats that live across the wall, rather they met an untimely death due to their curiosity.
